Willamette Valley Children's Charity

Willamette Valley Childrens Charity, Inc. serves local children who lose a parent or sibling, and parents who lose a baby (born/unborn) or minor child. Services for children are given to the custodial parents. We started out in 2014 as a small group of friends who got together randomly for lunch for the simple purpose of catching up and sharing som... e good food. That's when we first heard the story of the "9 Nanas" (click here to read their story). These ladies did good things in their community with what they had on hand--MaMaw Ruth's amazing southern pound cake recipe. A light went on, so to speak, in one of our friend's head and heart. She knew we could make a difference in our community, too. We started out quietly by leaving groceries on the door steps of grieving families that we read about in the news. From there, we developed the "Wee Care" Grocery program, the Angel Gown program, the Remembrance Ornament, and the ideas continue to come. So here we are now years later--a new set of friends who are also mothers with tender hearts and willing hands who are pooling together our resources to provide essential, practical immediate help to griving children and parents in our area. In 2014, we decided to formally create an old-fashioned charity. Old-fashioned charities have no paid staff and no buildings with overhead cost. So we did. We are still 100% volunteer based. We still have no paid staff and no building. We have no real assets except our passion and energy. Our programs are 100% supported by donations and fundraising. Our activities are carried out 100% by volunteers. Every penny we receive through donations is spent supporting grieving children and families in our area. We have no religious or political affiliation. We simply use our hands and hearts to create a community support system we want to live in.Read More
