Description:

VSAG is committed to the preservation of independent scuba diving freedom. It believes that divers take a responsible attitude toward the protection and preservation of the marine environment, but as a general rule is opposed to legislative measures that place prohibitive limitations and restrictions on scuba diving activities. As one of Australia's oldest non-commercial scuba diving clubs, VSAG is renowned for its safe approach to diving. The club has a considerable investment in diving safety equipment. We believe that VSAG is Melbourne's friendliest and most active independent dive club. We are not a charter boat service, we do not offer training nor do we hire gear. VSAG is run by and for its members as a club for divers, not for profit. Divers are expected to supply all their own gear and help in launching and retrieving dive boats. Based in Melbourne, we dive locally on a weekly basis (weather permitting), all year round. This is supported by weekend camps, dive trips on most long weekends, charters to more remote locations, plus regular interstate and overseas scuba diving trips. Most local scuba dives are from the privately owned boats of our participating members. Anyone with a recognised scuba diving qualification is welcome to Join VSAG. However, to get the best value from a VSAG membership and diving with VSAG you should hold an Advanced Open Water or equivalent certification. Many VSAG boat dives exceed the recommended 18 metre depth limit for Open Water divers. Have a browse through this web site to learn more about VSAG and its activities. Then, if you think that you would like to join, please come along to a general meeting, or get in touch using the Contact Form. You can even download a VSAG Membership Form and send it to a VSAG member you know, or a VSAG Committee member. Monthly Meeting: VSAG meets at 8:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at The Water Rat Hotel, 256 Moray Street, corner of Moray and Park Streets, South Melbourne VIC 3205, (Google Maps). Bar facilities are available prior to and after the monthly General Meetings. Guest speakers, video and photo presentations are typically a feature of these meetings. Many VSAG members arrive at 7:00 p.m. to have dinner together before the meeting. Visitors are very welcome at these general meetings, and the dinner beforehand. VSAG also has other social functions to provide an opportunity for members, friends and families to get together. Please feel free to Register and obtain access to even more facilities on this web site. Maybe you could also like our page on Facebook or join our group on Facebook.
