The Learning Specialists use their extensive training and expertise to cultivate an individualized approach for each students success. Step 1: Each family begins with a student evaluation with Kristen to identify the students spe... cific academic needs. Step 3: The student is matched with a learning specialist that will consistently work on focus-driven outcomes while building trust and confidence. Step 4: The student and instructor will work together for a 12-week intervention cycle where we carefully monitor progress toward identified goal and report detailed progress. We use proven, high-quality targeted methods such as: Wilson, Orton Gillingham, Visualizing and Verbalizing to build the foundation of skills. This comprehensive approach is unlike traditional models, There is no one size fits all method that fits every child. We customize every learning plan to drive measurable academic outcomes that strengthens your childs knowledge and talents. Kristen McShane is the Founder and Owner of The Learning Specialist. She holds dual Master's Degrees in Special Education and Instructional Leadership from University of Illinois at Chicago. Kristen draws from over ten years teaching experience in suburban districts and Chicago Public Schools. Kristen is also an adjunct professor at Elmhurst University where she teaches high-impact methods of reading remediation to undergraduate Elementary Education teacher candidates.Read More
