Who is The Altman
The A. Altman Company was founded by Alvin Altman in 1957. Alvin had gained knowledge as a result of his years in the retail furniture industry. Th is experience helped Alvin develop a keen business sense and an eye for opportunity. Entering the real estate development business, Alvin Altman built his credibility and confidence one deal at a time through hard work, intelligence and integrity. Alvin quickly secured deals to construct buildings for NCR and then Prudential Life Insurance. The relationships with NCR and Prudential resulted in 12 buildings throughout Ohio and Michigan, and propelled the A. Altman Company into a prominent role in the real estate development industry. A second generation of Altman family success joined the company in 1964. Robert Altman was running a successful housing development company when he left to join his father in developing commercial real estate. Robert was a very bright, hard working individual who would become the foundation of the A. Altman Company for many years to follow. The father and son team implemented a conservative steady growth plan. Under their leadership the A. Altman Company became known as a full service developer. The company became known for offering services such as design build, tenant build out, and site acquisition that could take a project from concept to completion. Together Alvin and Robert furthered the success of the A. Altman Company by securing deals with companies such as Revco, Radio Shack, Charter One Bank and W. T. Grant. Richard and Louis Altman joined the company in 1986 and 1991 respectively, as the third generation of leadership. It was under the guidance of Robert, Richard and Louis that Sojourn Hotels, Inc., a hotel development and management arm of the company, was founded and grown to be a respected member of hotel industry. Sojourn Hotels has franchised under license agreements, multiple properties with the Marriott, Hilton, and Choice Hotel Brands.
