We also provide market linkages and market information such as prices and availability. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates the world population will surpass 9.1 billion by 2050, at which point agricultural systems will not be able to supply enough food to feed everyone. We believe that small-holder farming communities can play a critical role in producing sustainable food for this global food challenge. Helping these farmers thrive in the face of climate change is critical to the existence of peace and humanity as we know it today. Revofarm idea came about when Ricardo Gowdie was searching for a solution for his mother to find crops in the field for resale. His mother trades in the Montego Bay and the Coronation Market in Kingston, at times his mother would request his help to find farmers who has crops she needed with the best price, after many unsuccessful tries to help his mother find crops he came up with the idea to create an SMS app to connect farmers to buyers, this was the genesis of Revofarm. Ricardo pitched the idea to two of his colleagues; Warren Robinson and Oshane Gooden and they started to build this app. They applied to the Agtech Hackathon in Peru and was one of the finalists.
