Parkersburg Utility Board

The Parkersburg Utility Board is a municipal water and wastewater utility serving the City of Parkersburg and surrounding environs. The Board is an autonomous entity that has full control over the daily operations of the water and wastewater utilities. There are five Board members, four of which are appointed by City Council to four year staggered... terms with the fifth member being the Mayor, who serves as the Chairman of the Board. The water utility provides service to an average of 16,140 connections with seven storage tanks, 196 miles of water lines, 15 pressure booster stations and 1,146 hydrants. The water treatment plant draws raw water from five radial collector wells along the Ohio River and provides complete traditional treatment to supply potable water to the utility's customers. The treatment plant delivers an average of 4 million gallons per day to the distribution system. The water utility is staffed by 40 employees. The sanitary sewer utility serves an average of 15,471 customers and one neighboring municipality. The collection system includes 204 miles of sewer mains and 11 pumping stations. The treatment facility has two treatment trains consisting of an anaerobic system with rotating biological contactors and digesters as well as an aerobic system with aeration tanks and aerobic digesters. The facility treats an average flow of 7.1 million gallons per day. The sanitary sewer utility is staffed by 42 employees.
