Funeral Service has served the needs of the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas since 1866. Founded by John M. Oakey, a commercial telegraph operator and cabinet maker, it continues to be owned and operated by the Oakey family. The current Roanoke Chapel opened in 1937, with the most recent renovation occurring in 1994. We have added many locations over the years: North Chapel in 1966, Vinton Chapel in 1971, and South Chapel in 1985. Each location has a formal chapel and private seating for the family. A lounge is also available for the comfort of the families we serve. All of our facilities fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
