Description:

EAST MEADOW, New York - The New York Bobcats are proud to announce that forward CJ Totillo has committed to play and attend school at Western New England beginning in the fall of 2015. Totillo, '94, enjoyed a solid first season with the Bobcats, playing in 44 games and registering 34 points (13g, 21a). He tallied four assists for New York during the club's playoff run. "I really liked what WNE had to offer both athletically and academically. Their coaching staff is very serious about their program and developing their players on and off the ice," said Totillo. "The University academically has a lot to offer especially their business program. This felt like a perfect fit because I get the best of both worlds." During the season, the Brooklyn, NY native put together five multi-game point streaks and also registered four game-winning goals on the year for the green and black. "The Bobcats helped me develop to be a better hockey player on and off the ice. They've helped me work on the weak parts of my game that needed to get better and helped me develop into a stronger player. [Coaches] Craig Doremus and Bobby DiRico know what it takes to play at the next level so I knew they would help me achieve my next goal, play college hockey," added Totillo. Western New England University is located in Springfield, Mass. and currently competed at the NCAA-III level in the ECAC Northeast. "I plan on bringing my hard work on and off the ice and help the team to a winning season," Totillo said. "The WNE coaching staff was looking to bring in a big class of freshman and have us be the core of the team over the next four years and I'm glad I can be apart of it." He joins current Bobcat forward David Kleyman as a Golden Bear, who also committed to WNE earlier in the year. "CJ is a kid who I have known for over three years now. He played for Coach DiRico and I back with the Metro Moose in the MET league. When he approached me in the off-season about joining the Bobcats it was a simple decisions for the staff and I. We knew we would be getting a hard working young man with great character. We got that plus much more. CJ was able to find instant chemistry with Corey Kennedy and together they set the pace for the team offensively early in the season. CJ had a great season with us playing a major role in all situations. He was also a quiet veteran leader for us off the ice. His commitment, work ethic and passion rubbed off on our younger players and hopefully will guide them in the years to come," said Doremus. "Western New England is getting another fine young man who will work extremely hard to make that program the best it could possibly be. Coach Heffernan has been great to work with throughout the process and he really made the all the Bobcats' players feel special. I look forward to seeing CJ and our other guys continue their hockey career at Western New England. On behalf of the entire New York Bobcats organization I want to thank CJ and the entire Totillo family for all their hard work, dedication and loyalty." The New York Bobcats wish CJ and his family all the best on this wonderful accomplishment.
