We are founded on the belief that no animal should have to go hungry, be homeless or live in fear or pain. We believe that all animals deserve to be treated with dignity, kindness, and respect; and provided with care that increases their opportunity for a safe and healthy life. Our Mission is to offer care and a peaceful living environment for abused, physically handicapped, aged or homeless animals; and to always find and encourage a forever home for all animals that come to us. We believe in community collaboration in the true spirit of saving as many healthy adoptable animals as possible. 4. What have we achieved so far? This mission of HSAR goes far beyond the dogs and the cats. It is truly about affirming the humanity of the people of our community. A great philosopher has said: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated". A community that ignores the vulnerability and suffering of its animals diminishes and trivializes itself. A community that responds to that vulnerability and that suffering does itself the greatest honor. More than mere charity, HSAR is something that is in our most vital of interests. By making better the lives of animals, we make ourselves better human beings. Honor Sanctuary Animal Rescue continues to care for hundreds of animals. We are a volunteer organization made up of people from all walks of life that care about the welfare and life of domesticated animals - dogs and cats. We have saved thousands of animals in our short history. We have created an animal welfare organization that keeps to the highest of quality care for the animals and the greatest respect for those who care for them. We continue to save animals at a record pace but our facilities and volunteers are limited. We need to grow and provide the type of facilities that encourage adoption and care for these animals. To accomplish this, we need a secure source of the financial resources we will need to continue and expand our mission. We need the help of the community, of all of you, to provide this badly needed animal adoption and rescue center. We need to unite families wanting pets with the animals that need them, and to end the practice of unnecessary euthanasia once and for all. With the help of our supporters, we will be able to provide the kennels, the veterinary treatment, and the adoption facilities required to attract adoptive families to us. Our Master Plan illustrates how the 8 acre property will be utilized to its best and highest use for the betterment of homeless and at risk animals in our midst, and become a stable and valuable asset for both Sarasota and Manatee counties. The proximity of both Nate's Place and "The Ranch" to I -75 makes our location an easy commute for both counties.
