The British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) is a mission-driven services organization committed to delivering peace of mind to our Members a nd customers across B.C. and the Yukon. BCAA has over 800,000 Members, and serves a quarter of households in British Columbia. The Association is famous for providing roadside assistance and an array of home insurance, car insurance and travel insurance products and services. Meanwhile, just as it looked like the Union would be taking a strike vote, BCAA announced wage increases privately to 26 employees at ERS. The same thing happened before Christmas and we now have an unprecedented 38 employees with secret wage increases of up to 12.5%. All of these are in the form of extra step increases. These are just the ones we know about. If you did not get a wage increase please contact your supervisor you may get one as BCAA management attempts to illegally influence the voting process. Never in the history of ERS have there been so many wage increases given out in such a short time. There is little doubt that this would not be happening if employees had not decided to join a Union. By the time we get down to the real focus on economic issues at the bargaining table, it may be that ERS will have evened out the inequitable ranges where long service employees are paid less than new ones.Read more
