Who is The Arc of East Central Iowa
The Arc of East Central Iowa is a non-profit agency that supports over 800 individuals with intellectual disabilities as well as their families. Determined parents came together and demanded more for their children with intellectual disabilities. Due to their advocacy, institutions are now the exception and not the norm. Parents were heard and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) were enacted to provide services that promote independence, community integration, and removal of barriers. The Arc is an authorized agency for HCBS services and it accounts for the majority of services we provide. We serve counties in east central Iowa including; Benton, Cedar, northern Johnson, Jones, Iowa, Linn, and Tama. Our goal is to provide services and supports that reduce barriers, provide resources and referrals and promote access to community based life. We are dedicated to making sure the services we provide meet the needs of those we serve both today and look ahead to anticipate future needs.Explore more
