Who is Alliance for Vascular Access Teaching and Research (AVATAR
The AVATAR Group is a respected independent research group specializing in undertaking highly credible scientific research. We work with many healt hcare and commercial industry partners but we are affiliated with no one organisation. Our administrative base is at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, but we work in partnership with researchers from many other universities in Australia and internationally. AVATAR relies on funding from government and private organizations including individuals and commercial companies - as it receives no recurring funding from any source. No patient or carer wants to see repeated, painful stabs to insert an IV catheter, to have serious IV infections develop, or for catheters to become blocked and useless - at AVATAR we don't think these things should happen either! Our vision is to make these complications history. AVATAR is based at the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Centre for Nursing Interventions in Hospitalised Patients, & the Centre for Health Practice Innovation, Griffith Health Institute.Read more
