Yacolt Community Church was founded by several families in the early 1960's with a desire to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to our local rural community. Our mission at Yacolt Community Church is to serve the families of our community with the Word of God so that Christ is formed in them. Our hearts desire is to see families GROWING in Christ-like maturity through His Word, LIVING lives that are God-centered and Christ-exalting and SHARING the gospel of Jesus Christ to those around us. In essence, we as a church are striving to be disciples who make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). We meet at 509 W Cushman Street on Sunday Mornings at 8:45 am for Sunday School with the Worship Service following at 10 am. We have nursery and preschool care available for infants through 5 years of age, and Children's Church for children K-6th grade. Our Sunday School curriculum for kids is Scripture Press. For more than 75 years, Scripture Press has distinguished itself as a curriculum focused on creating a learning experience entirely on the Scriptures. Weekly lessons minister to the teacher first, who then guides students in the three-step process of Focus, Discover and Respond. This approach engages students and prepares them to apply the truth of Scripture directly to real-life situations. For adults who desire to grow in the knowledge of God's Word, we also have a class working through a book of the Bible. Follow the link to our Children's Ministry for more on our Sunday School, Children's Church and mid-week AWANA program. Our Middle and High School Youth Group meets on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 year around. The focus is to worship God, encourage each other and study God's word so that they will not only be equipped for every good work (2 Tim 3:16), but so that they will also know God and glorify Him by enjoying Him forever (Jer 9:23-24; 1 Cor 10:31). Our lay leaders, Larry & Dawn Shinn oversee the Middle School and High School youth ministry.
