Description:

The Town of Indian Head promotes, manages and operates garbage collection, landfill and recycling services in the Town of Indian Head. As part of the Town's Permit to Operate a Waste Disposal Ground issued by the provincial Ministry of Environment, Section Four, 4.3 states, "The Permittee shall carry out to the maximum extent practical, the reduction, reuse, recycling and recovery of wastes being directed to the waste disposal grounds." The Town of Indian Head is not only mandated to waste reduction but is committed to a healthy environment and a sustainable economy. Along with that is a growing recognition that we need to get past the "throw away" mentality. In fact, we now understand that much of what used to be called "waste" should be viewed as a resource that can be re-used. Zero waste disposal is the ultimate goal for the Town of Indian Head. We must all work together to make sure our wastes are managed safely and effectively. Reduce, Re-use and Recycle are the 3-Rs of waste management. Reduce by working to eliminate as much waste as possible, re-use materials again and again and recycle items into other products through your own efforts or by dropping them off to be re-manufactured. Following you will find information about the kinds of Reduce, Re-use and Recycle activities that can help our environment, our economy and your budget.
