Nick Trygstad

Nicholas TrygstadNicholas enrolled at the Royal Northern College of Music in 1998.He has taught cello, both privately and at Runshaw College in Lancashire.Nicholas is currently on the faculty of the Junior School at the RNCM where he teaches both cello and chamber music.

Nick TrygstadNick Trygstad began cello lessons at age four, and in his teens won many competitions in his native Minnesota.In 1998 he enrolled at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied with Ralph Kirshbaum and Hannah Roberts.Active both as soloist and chamber musician, he has received many awards through the RNCM.In 2002 he won the Bronze Medal in the London Symphony Orchestra scholarship competition, performing the Schumann Concerto with the LSO.Last year Nick received awards in the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition, the Pierre Fournier Award, and the Yamaha Music Foundation Scholarship Competition, the silver medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, and the Gold Medal from the RNCM, the institution's highest honour.Nick is also on the faculty of the Junior School at the RNCM where he teaches cello and chamber music.
