Thursday, 18 October, Examining Models of Complexity, Dr. Dan Teitelbaum
Dan Teitelbaum is a Senior Scientist at Bios Group, Inc., in Washington, D.C.His areas of expertise include agent-based modeling, economics, econometrics, and statistics. While at Bios, he has worked on improving supply chain efficiency for several Fortune 500 consumer packaged goods companies. He has also worked on models of consumer choice for consumer packaged goods companies and big three auto manufacturers.
Dan will present a brief overview of Complexity Science, and demonstrate two modeling projects being developed for DoD:
1. J-8 Force Structure design in a co-evolutionary environment: Explores effective force structures and strategies for an adaptive, persistent threat.
...
Dr. Teitelbaum has written an internal publication for the Institute for Defense Analyses in Alexandria, Virginia, "An Analysis of the Costs and Benefits of the Integrated Maintenance Information System (IMIS)" (1995).His 1998 Doctoral thesis was titled " Technological Change and Pollution Control: An Adaptive Agent-Based Analysis," Carnegie Mellon University. He has also published a paper in Computational and Mathematical Organization Theory, entitled, "A Computational Model of Technological Innovation at the Firm Level" (Vol. 6, Issue 3, Sept. 2000, Dowlatabadi, H., co-author).
Dr. Teitelbaum graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1989, receiving two degrees, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.A. in Painting. In 1998, he completed a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University.
