Amy Rose, 32, is a longtime Democratic activist and a respected Broward governmental official.Originally a Michigan native, Amy and her family permanently moved to Broward fifteen years ago.She now lives in Coconut Creek.
After graduating from Broward's JP Taravella High School, Amy attended Broward Community College and then transferred to Florida State University.While attending college in Tallahassee, Amy interned in the office of State Senator Peter Weinstein (D).

Amy returned to Broward County in 1997 and began her career in local government at the Broward League of Cities -- the umbrella organization for all of Broward's cities.In 2001, Amy went to work as the District Outreach Coordinator for Broward County Commissioner Sue Gunzburger -- a leading environmentalist and social services advocate.

Amy became active in the Broward Young Democrats (BYD) organization in 1998 and in her first year, she won the Young Democrats Distinguished Service Award.Over the years since then, Amy continued to move up through the ranks as her involvement kept increasing.From 2002-05, Amy served three consecutive terms as the BYD President.During her tenure as President, the group saw unprecedented success and was recognized as the leading Democratic grassroots activist group within Broward.Amy also served on the powerful Management Committee of the Broward Democratic Executive Committee, and she continues to represent the BYDs on the Broward Pro Choice Coalition.Amy also had the honor of serving on the 2004 Democratic National Convention's Platform Committee.
Amy has volunteered thousands of hours helping Democratic candidates, communicating with activists and elected leaders, as well as organizing events to build our party.A 2003 Miami Herald article reported that Amy "is known as one of the party's hardest-working activists."In April 2003 -- confirming the Herald's description -- the leaders of Broward's 40 Democratic clubs elected Amy as President of the Broward Council of Democratic Club Presidents.In 2003, Amy also received the Broward Young Democrat of the Year Award for her leadership and dedication.Later that year, the Dolphin Democrats presented Amy with with their Broward Political Leadership Award.In 2004, Amy was honored by the Plantation Democratic Club for her countless volunteer hours working to help Democratic candidates.On October 5, 2004, the County Commission again recognized Amy's tireless efforts on behalf of the party and declared an "AMY ROSE APPRECIATION DAY."
In addition to her tireless commitment to the Democratic Party, Amy also served the community in a number of other leadership positions.She volunteers with the Young Leadership Division of the Jewish Federation, and is a former member of a local Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) Board.Amy was recently elected Vice President of the National Women's Political Caucus of Florida, and served on the nominating committee of Planned Parenthood.Amy also serves on the Board of Trustees of Florida Ocean Science Institute (FOSI), a non-profit educational program for troubled and at-risk youth.
