Dr. Alice Paul retired from the University of Arizona in June of 1999 after completing thirty years of service in the College of Education.Prior to her faculty membership at the University she spent ten years in the classroom as a teacher of primary children in the Tucson Public Schools.
She served as Department Head for two and a half years during her tenure.She also served as the Director of the Tucson Early Education Model, a National Follow through Project which was funded for twenty-five years by the Office of Education.
Dr. Paul has been very involved in teacher programs and in the professional development of teachers.She has also served on numerous committees in the University community as well as the broader community involving local, regional and national arenas.Dr. Paul has served as a resource for the Native American Cultures for schools and other organizations though out her career.She is an enrolled member of the Tohono O'Odham Tribe of Arizona.She has the distinction of being the first member of her Tribe to receive a doctorate.
