Vern Dorge: Saxophone
Within the Canadian music scene, Vern is one of the most experienced and well know instrumentalists. Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, he moved to Toronto in 1974 to pursue a music career. Vern performs on the saxophones and woodwind instruments in studio, television, theatre, studio recording, orchestral, club and freelance work involved many different styles and genres.
He has appeared with many well-known soloists including Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray, Rita McNeil, Bruce Cockburn, Hugh Marsh and Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Vern has been a featured soloist on many television themes and series productions including "Night Heat", "ENG", "Diamonds", "Rita McNeil Show", and the Anne Murray Croonin Special. Live performance credits include with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Opera Company, National Ballet of Canada and the Esprit Orchestra. Vern's experience in theater productions include with 'Cats', 'Les Miserables', 'Wizard of Oz', 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' and 'Guys and Dolls'. Beyond his performance schedule, Vern teaches lessons at Humber College in the music program and is a clinician for the Brandon Jazz Festival.
