C. J. Brandt joined Fulbright & Jaworski's Austin office in July 2000.As counsel , his practice focuses on technology and emerging company matters.Mr. Brandt has substantial experience in procurement law ; unfair competition ; antitrust law ; intellectual property law matters including copyright , trademark and trade secret ; corporate law ; franchise agreements ; partnership agreements ; and choice of legal entity.

Prior to joining the firm , Mr. Brandt served as General Counsel for the Texas Department of Information Resources , where he advised board members , executive director , managers and staff on all legal issues affecting the agency , with particular emphasis on electronic commerce , large-scale technology procurements , and strategic technology initiatives in state government.

C.J. Brandt, Jr., Texas, has served as general counsel for the Texas Department of Information Resources since 1994.At DIR, he has dealt extensively with a wide range of legal issues related to technology and state government.He was responsible for the development of Texas regulations pertaining to digital signatures and served as a member of the drafting team for the CARAT guidelines.Before coming to DIR, Mr. Brandt was a staff attorney with the Texas General Services Commission for three and a half years, and prior to that spent six years in private practice in Austin.He is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law.
