Veteran stage actor Barbara Zollinger is a familiar face to long-time Santa Cruz theatre watchers. For 25 years, she was a central figure in local theater , she was a founding member of the Actors' Theatre , before moving to Ashland, Ore.

This weekend Zollinger is back in town with a four-performance run of her revamped one-woman show "Carousel of Life," presented in honor of the 20th anniversary of the founding of Actors' Theatre.
    ...
The show, a benefit performance for Actors' Theatre, has changed dramatically since then, said Zollinger."As I age, it seems to be important to put it all together and address this stage of my life."

The revival of "Carousel" was inspired, she said, by writer and human-potential movement icon Jean Houston who convinced Zollinger to revisit "Carousel."It is divided into two parts, titled "Then" and "Now."

"It's a celebration of life full of gorgeous song and poetry," said Zollinger.
