In response to the ever-growing Jewish community of Middle Eastern descent, the well-known San Jose congregation known as Ahavas Torah has undergone a facelift: a new name, Ahabat Torah; a new nusach, Sephardic; a new spiritual leader, Rabbi David Zitter.
Dynamic, friendly and highly knowledgeable, Rabbi Zitter has taught and held rabbinic positions in Jerusalem and Budapest, Hungary.Moreover, his versatility allows the shul to remain Ashkenazi-friendly.He prays from a Sephardic siddur and announces the pages in the Ashkenazic one.Upon moving to San Jose, Rabbi Zitter visited Ahabat Torah and immediately recognized its warmth and potential.
Ahabat Torah has not only generated an interest in the Sephardic community, it has seen an increase of Ashkenazim at its services.Rabbi Zitter and Dr. David Lewis give lectures and classes on Shabbat.

After evening services on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, Rabbi Noach Vogel, Rabbi Zitter and Rebbetzin Zitter, respectively, offer classes open to the public.
