Gaines Township: Panel interviews Jeffrey Zittel, former Grand Blanc supervisor, for new superintendent post
...
GAINES TOWNSHIP -- In his interview Tuesday for the new superintendent's position, Jeffrey Zittel said he can offer leadership in operations and finances because Gaines is similar to his hometown.
>
"Gaines in very similar to Grand Blanc and may be cut from a similar cloth," said Zittel.
. Zittel finished up his second term as Grand Blanc's supervisor last year, during which he helped advise a township manager, a new position added there.
He chose to not seek re-election.
He was the second of two candidates to interview for the position this week.

Zittel worked as president and investment adviser for Zittel Financial Services for 12 years before he was elected supervisor.
He also served a term on Grand Blanc's Board of Education and was president of the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce.
He served on the Genesee County Board of Directors and the board of directors for the Metropolitan Planning Commission's community character education committee.
He has a bachelor's degree in business and finance from Western Michigan University.
Zittel said he served at the helm of Grand Blanc Township while its population skyrocketed from 20,000 to 36,000 people, spurred by a new hospital.
During that time, he sought a balance of growth and preservation, both important elements in planning, he said.
