Jenny Zimmerman stood in an airport lobby in Detroit on a Saturday evening.The Newells waiting at the Johnstown had traveled to Johnstown for nothing.No , Mom , it was great.We got to go shopping , Chandra Newell said.The next day , the Newells had to travel to Johnstown , once again.The night before , there were terrible thunderstorms , so Jenny's flight was canceled.When Jenny arrived at the Johnstown airport , the Newell family was waiting there for her.I was very upset , Jenny said , I wanted to be with my new family last night. They all laughed.Jenny Zimmerman is a 16-year-old foreign exchange student from Germany.Her host family is the Newells ? Randy , Holly , Chandra.She attends Rockwood Area High School.Jenny's ( pronounced Yenny , not Jenny ) childhood was some what different than our childhoods here in America.She was born in a small town , Oraniebaum , translated to Castletown..I had a good childhood , she said.From the ages of 2 to 3 , she was in daycare ; from 4 to 6 , she was in kindergarden ; from 7 to 10 , she was in elementary school and from 11 until she's 18 she will be in grammar school.She used to stay with friends after school.I have always had a good relationship with my family , she said.She also added , smiling , I was and still am crazy! Her favorite activities are table tennis , handball , music school , and dancing.She had been dancing since 5th grade.She has traveled to different cities in Germany , and different countries throughout Europe , including Sweden , Turkey , Czech Republic , and Italy.She helped her dad , who is an accountant , and they used to rent out the house next to theirs.Her favorite hobbies and interests are dancing , volleyball , handball , and she enjoys music.She also enjoys playing the keyboard , accordion , harmonica , recorder and melodica , which is a keyboard that you blow into.Her favorite German food is Konigsberger klopse , which is meatballs in white caper sauce.Her favorite American foods are ice cream , ( all kinds , except mint ) pasta , pizza , and soft shell tacos.Her advice for kids today is enjoy every day of your life and make the best of it.Don't change your life by suicide , drugs , and/or alcohol.You can either do two things in your life , accept it or change it , and try to smile even when it's hard to..Jenny is a very interesting person once you get to know her.I interviewed her because I thought it would be a good experience for me. I enjoyed taking the time to talk to and interview her.She is a very humorous person.I hope she enjoys her stay here in America.
