Mr. Albert C. Zimmerman Vice President, Strategic Initiatives

Al Zimmerman is the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives for DRS Technologies. His responsibilities include coordination and development of strategic programs across the corporation, including major program pursuits; strategic partnering; and strategic planning.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Zimmerman held several key positions in DRS, including the Vice President of Business Development at DRS Sustainment Systems in St. Louis, Missouri and Executive Vice President at DRS Tactical Systems in Melbourne, Florida.

Prior to entering the defense industry, Mr. Zimmerman served in the US Army for 20 years. His awards include the Silver Star, four awards of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, five Army Commendation Medals for heroism and achievement, and 27 Air Medals. He is also Airborne, Ranger qualified and was an Army Aviator.

"We have had a great year in Palm Bay," said DRS Tactical Systems Executive Vice President Al Zimmerman, adding that he estimates the company added 50 jobs in the past 12 months."We have been hiring all year, and it looks like that will continue."

About $11 million of the contracts will be done in Palm Bay and about $2 million will be done at the company's DRS Tactical Systems West unit in Colorado Springs, Colo.
