   Gerold Zeiler has been a partner of the Vienna firm, Schönherr, since 1998. He obtained his master's degree (1988) and his doctorate (1996) in law from the University of Vienna and is a graduate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators' Diploma Course in International Commercial Arbitration (DipICArb, 2004). He has been a member of the Vienna Bar since 1993, of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration, and of the LCIA (London Court of International Arbitration).
   
   Gerold Zeiler's practice focuses on international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration and international litigation. He regularly sits as arbitrator and acts as counsel of parties both in ad hoc arbitration proceedings and administered arbitration proceedings, including proceedings under the VIAC, ICC, UNCITRAL and ICSID Rules. Gerold heads Schönherr's CEE dispute resolution group, which consists of lawyers based in Vienna as well as in all CEE offices of Schönherr. The size of the group and the expertise of its members allow Schönherr to handle complex international arbitration as well as state court litigation proceedings. Recent work includes several cross-border arbitration proceedings involving parties from various CEE states and the Middle East as well as BIT claims against two eastern European states.
   
   Gerold Zeiler works in German and English and has a broad knowledge of Italian. He regularly speaks at conferences and is the author of numerous books and articles on international litigation and arbitration, including Pre-emptive Remedies in International Litigation (Internationales Sicherungsverfahren, 1996), The Brussels and Lugano Convention (Die Übereinkommen von Brüssel und Lugano, 1997, co-editor), The New Austrian Arbitration Law , A Basic Primer (2006, co-author) and Arbitration (Schiedsverfahren, 2006).
