Upon graduation with a major in Finance in 1988, Ms. Zehner was recruited by Goldman Sachs and Company in New York City to be an analyst in the mortgage securities department.
Ms. Zehner began her career as a mortgage backed bond trader at Goldman Sachs in 1990.As an institutional bond trader she was responsible for placing Goldman Sachs capital to service the needs of its institutional client base.She was also responsible for trading proprietarily for the firm.Throughout her career she was one of very few women traders on Wall Street and actively participated in numerous recruiting and mentoring activities aimed at both attracting and retaining women professionals.
In 1996 Ms. Zehner was invited to become a Goldman Sachs Partner by Jon Corzine, the then Co-CEO of the firm and the present Senator of New Jersey.

In 2001 Ms. Zehner retired as a partner but remained with the firm for one year as an Advisory Director to spearhead the ASCEND initiative, a leadership exchange created for Goldman's top women clients.
After leaving Goldman Sachs in 2001, she became a founding partner of Circle Financial Group, a private wealth management group located in New York City created by twelve women partners.In a peer-to-peer structure, the group seeks to identify the best providers of wealth management and family services and offer them to members.The group also serves as a think-tank, attracting diverse thought leaders on issues relevant to the members.Ms. Zehner's other business interests are in the media and in children's education space in which she is building a portfolio of private equity investments.One such investment is the newly launched TANGO, a magazine about love and relationships in which she has a business development role.
In the philanthropic arena Ms. Zehner has been active with many organizations that seek to improve the lives of women and girls.Her most significant commitment is as a board member for the National Council for Research on Women, an active network of over 100 leading U.S. research, policy and advocacy centers.In 1999 she received a "Women Who Make a Difference" award by the Council for her contribution to workforce diversity.She was also a founding board member of The British Columbia Forum for Women Entrepreneurs in Vancouver.Other commitments include Auburn Seminary, Girls Incorporated, The White House Project, The Council of Women World Leaders, and V-Day, an organization that seeks to end Violence against women globally.
Ms. Zehner is married to Greg Zehner, also a retired Goldman Partner, who is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Theology at Yale University, Connecticut.
