    Captivating lyric

Annie Zane began her dance career in Palo Alto when she was a freshman at Stanford University and studying English Literature.First seduced by the lyric and discipline of classical ballet, Annie trained at the London School of Ballet while she was doing research on the Bloomsbury Group. In London she discovered jazz and funk dancing at the Underground School of Dance. And that was itóNo other dance medium could contain her.

    Creates a space for expression

Her choreography is a marriage of movement and rhythm, and embraces a multi-dimensional relationship with sound, space and other dancers.Achieving near cult-status in Palo Alto and the Silicon Valley, Annieís classes are described breathlessly by her students : "awesome, it ís like a dream, "world-class, "Pure sensuous joy, "Like nothing else, "the music and the moves carry me away."Her commitment to using all kinds of music to teach movement makes her a distinctive and distinctly popular teacher.

World class "doers" take time to dream

And her students are nothing to sneeze at either!Despite Palo Alto's reputation as a hard-driven home of VCs and financiers, Annie's classes draw some of Palo Alto's finest thinkers and creative business people.Computer Scientists, Entrepreneurs, Photographers, Poets, Psychiatrists, Painters all take time to dance with Annie.

    Auto-didactic technique

Over the years, Annie has developed her unique style independently.Piecing together the fundamentals of music, classical dance, physical fitness & performance, she created Zaniacs!, a rigorous & expressive teaching style that is accessible to people of all ages and one that expresses a tender care and respect for bodies of every shape and size. (She is particularly fond of her children's dance classes in Palo Alto schools, where she teaches music and dance fundamentals to elementary and middle school students.)
    ...
In addition to an exhausting teaching schedule (unlike many instructors, Annie dances every class she teaches), she has leads numerous master classes and workshops, including corporate celebrations and private parties. She regularly performs with a small troupe of her students in recitals, at festivals and special events in the Bay Area.In addition to the London School of Ballet and the Underground School of Dance, Annieís formal training includes a B.A. in Fine Arts (with an emphasis in Theatre and Dance) and various certifications in fitness and first aid.For more information about Annie Zane and Zaniacs!Dance Classes, please visit her web site at http://anniezane.com.

Over the years, Annie has developed her unique style by-hand.Piecing together the fundamentals of music, classical dance, physical fitness & performance, she created Zaniacs!, a rigorous & expressive teaching style that is accessible to people of all ages – and one that expresses a tender care and respect for bodies of every shape and size. (She is particularly fond of her children's dance classes in Palo Alto schools, where she teaches music and dance fundamentals to elementary and middle school students.)

    Inside of self and song

Annie's philosophy of movement-that you express a total appreciation for the artistry and experience of music in every song you dance-means that when you leave her classes you know how to break down a count, understand the fundamentals of rhythm and composition.

The classes are meticulously planned from start to finish – one moves from warm-up through various emotional and rhythmically pitches to cool-down-all in a seamless choreography that engages your heart and your body. You don't just learn to dance; you learn to sink into the mood of the music.
