Annie Zane began her dance career in Palo Alto when she was a freshman at Stanford University and studying English Literature.First seduced by the lyric and discipline of classical ballet, Annie trained at the London School of Ballet while she was doing research on the Bloomsbury Group.In London she discovered jazz and funk dancing at the Underground School of Dance.And that was itóNo other dance medium could contain her.

Creates a space for expression

Her choreography is a marriage of movement and rhythm, and embraces a multi-dimensional relationship with sound, space and other dancers.Achieving near cult-status in Palo Alto and the Silicon Valley, Annieís classes are described breathlessly by her students : "awesome, it ís like a dream, "world-class, "Pure sensuous joy, "Like nothing else, "the music and the moves carry me away."Her commitment to using all kinds of music to teach movement makes her a distinctive and distinctly popular teacher.

Over the years, Annie has developed her unique style independently.Piecing together the fundamentals of music, classical dance, physical fitness & performance, she created Zaniacs!, a rigorous & expressive teaching style that is accessible to people of all ages and one that expresses a tender care and respect for bodies of every shape and size. (She is particularly fond of her children's dance classes in Palo Alto schools, where she teaches music and dance fundamentals to elementary and middle school students.)
