William T. Yu was placed under investigation for alleged misappropriation of PhilHealth Insurance refunds, allowing the use of spurious official receipts and willfully allowing the utilization of expired medicines.

New AFP Chief of Staff Lt.Gen.Efren Abu has ordered the immediate filing of criminal charges before the Ombudsman of graft against Yu.
    ...
An administrative charge is being readied against Yu, before the Provost Marshall and to the Army Inspector General, Pascual said.

"Parang ganun ang lumalabas, eh pinapayagan ni Yu, ipinagagamit ni Yu 'yung mga expired antibiotics sa mga inooperang mga sundalo sa AGH, tapos nga pinepeke 'yung mga resibo sa mga deliveries ng supplies na mga gamit ng hospital," Pascual said.

Yu was the third ranking official of the AFP who have been charged before the Ombudsman.

Yu is currently being scrutinized by the Army Efficiently and Separation Board, Pascual said.

Yu is also being investigated for his alleged involvement in the purchase of overpriced medicines intended for Army troopers and their dependents.

Pascual said that then Army chief Abu ordered the removal of Yu as commanding officer of the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital (FBGH) based on the recommendations of the Army Inspector General.
    ...
Several Army personnel and hospital staff have filed formal complaints against Yu with regard to the anomalous transactions at the FBGH.

Pascual also said that the Army Inspector General also recommended the removal from their position those who filed the complaint against Yu to pave the way for an impartial investigation on the case.

Colonel William Yu, former commanding officer of the FBGH, questioned the timing of his accuser, nurse attendant Myrna David, in airing her allegations over media entities.
    ...
She is apparently using my case to ride on the current controversy surrounding the Armed Forces of the Philippines," Yu said in a statement.

"Why should she seek publicity on a case that is already being heard by the proper bodies?"he asked.

Yu, a member of the Philippine Army Medical Corps, denied David's claims, stressing that the AFP leadership never ordered the use of expired medicines.

He also said that the FBGH never purchased expired medicines and there was never a complaint from any patient about the use of medicines with lapsed date.

David also alleged that Yu was involved in the purchase of fictitious orders of medicine supply using fake original receipts.

Which is why we thought that the AFP's response through Colonel William Yu on allegations about the use of expired medicines and other "anomalies" at the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital was well taken.
