Dr. Wengui Yu is the new director of Critical Care Neurology, providing service at the UCI Stroke Center and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit.Yu, a neurointensivist, has expertise in the comprehensive care of patients with acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage and head injury.He is experienced in medical and neurointerventional therapies of stroke, including IV or IA tPA, endovascular embolectomy, angioplasty and stenting.

Yu received his medical degree from Jiangxi Medical College in China and earned a Ph.D. from McGill University in Montreal.He served a residency in neurology at the University of Missouri and completed vigorous fellowship training in the medical, surgical and trauma ICU, as well as neurocritical care and stroke service at UC San Francisco.Working with UCI Stroke Center co-directors Dr. Mark Fisher and Dr. Steven C. Cramer, Yu recently launched the new inpatient Stroke/Neurocritical Care Service at UCI Medical Center.
