Amy A. Yu has been a family law attorney since 1997 and a partner with Abrams Yu and Associates, P.C. since 1999.Originally from Ann Arbor, Ms. Yu graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan with a BS in Nursing.She worked as a critical care nurse for ten years before going to law school.Her nursing background has provided her with specialized knowledge and a unique outlook, which she applies to her family law cases.
Ms. Yu graduated from the University of Detroit Law School in 1996 Magna Cum Laude and was admitted to practice in the State of Michigan in 1996.She began her career working on immigration cases.She further has experience working at the US Attorney's Office.Her practice now consists primarily of divorce, paternity, child custody and child support.She is an experienced litigator as well as part of the collaborative law community.
Ms. Yu is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan Family Law Section, where she has been a council member from 2003 to the present, the American Bar Association (Family Law Section and on the Adoption Committee), Collaborative Law Institute of Michigan, Michigan Interprofessional Association, the Women's Lawyers Association and Michigan Trial Lawyer's Association.
Ms. Yu is a frequent speaker and author for the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and a contributing editor to the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, Family Law Handbook 6th Edition, Chapter on Immigration and Family Law.
