Charlene Young, OTR/L, CEAS, is a licensed Occupational Therapist and a Certified Ergonomic Assessment specialist with more than 15 years experience in Pediatric Rehabilitation.
Ms. Young is the owner of Functional Abilities, LLC and The Appalachian Regional Neurodevelopment Center, PLLC of London, Kentucky.
She has taken an active role in creating changes for the profession of Occupational Therapy by serving as President and Eastern Kentucky Director of the Kentucky Occupational Association (KOTA), and participating in structured focus groups designed by AOTA to address state and national laws governing the practice of OT.
Ms. Young has received several honors as a professional, including being selected as the recipient of the "Best Practice" award for school based practice by Advance Magazine.
Ms. Young earned both her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and her Bachelor's of Science in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Kentucky State University in Richmond, Kentucky.
The college of Occupational Therapy at Eastern Kentucky University invited Ms. Young to be a guest speaker for their students and submitted her newspaper article addressing Sensory Processing Disorder, to the AOTA historical files.
She continues to speak both locally and nationally, in an effort to educate her peers and help children with sensory processing disorder across the country.
