Charles Yonkers served for four years in the Peace Corps as a Country Director in Benin, West Africa.He developed in-country training of Peace Corps volunteers, recruiting native-born citizens of Benin as trainers and supervised rural development and education programs.After returning to the U.S., Charlie joined McKenna & Cuneo, a predecessor firm to McKenna Long & Aldridge, in 1966, practicing in the field of government contracts litigation.In 1981, Charlie was elected by his peers to serve as Executive Partner of the firm, a role equivalent to chairman of the partnership.He held that position for a decade.
Charlie has proven himself in a dozen management and leadership roles in the firm, serving on or chairing key firm committees, including the firm's Management Committee, Compensation Committee, Governance Committee, Long-Range Planning Committee, Recruitment Committee, Associates' Committee and paralegal program.A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, he is a former director of BMA Corporation and a Trustee of the Taft School.
