Senator Leeland Yee, Please Support AB1991
...
Senator Leeland Yee comes more into focus as AB1991 heads to the State Senate.
I was extremely disappointed to learn that shortly after Yee endorsed AB1991, and offered to co-sponsor AB1991, he flipped.
First of all, it brings into focus his ability to make a decision.
Secondly, it also questions his ability to get the appropriate data Prior to making a decision.
Thirdly, and probably most important, it gives the appearance of pandering to Special Interests, specifically the alleged environmental groups.
The old saying, perception is everything, is something Senator Yee should have considered before he took a position at all.
It's not too late, however, for Yee to rethink his position, for a town in his District, to do the Right Thing, and return to his original position of endorsement and co-sponsorship.This is more important than his short term status with enviro groups. This is more important than a few small campaign contributions.Mullin, a Democrat, well known and respected for his environmental stance wholeheartedly not only supported and co-authored the bill, but produced an impressive overwhelming victory for us.
Yee can, and in my view must do the same. The first thing he should do is sit down with the City and become intimate with the bill. The cost will be time.He needs to understand it inside out.I doubt he currently does.Next, he needs to prioritize and put this in its true perspective. Then, he needs to commit - to himself and to us, to save us from this terrible morass. He needs to, like Mullin did, be able to deal with any objection in a professional and prompt manner, always showing respect to all involved. He won't get every vote. But he is in a position to help.
If he does the Right Thing, and supports AB1991 as suggested above, he may improve his future voting position.I would actively support him and vote for him if he helps us save our town.I know many others that feel the same.
How would it look if he turned his back on a town he represents? How will that fair for his political career? What will future voters think when he asks for their vote, as he did here, and everyone knows he turned his back on his constituents?Do you think people will not know?Do you think people will forget? Not likely.
Senator Yee, please do the Right Thing.Support your constituents.Support AB1991.
