Mr. Jesse Ybarra

A small handful of people gathered around Saturday at Hibbett Sports in Coffeyville as Bierbrodt, a freshman at Labette County High School, accepted a plaque naming him a Hibbett Sports "Superstar" and LCHS Athletic Director Jesse Ybarra received a $1,000 check on Bierbrodt's behalf.

It's that humility and, "Aw, shucks," attitude that caused Ybarra to compare Bierbrodt's hard-working, take-no-credit point of view to that of Holtzman's, whose name will grace the press box facility Bierbrodt's donation will help build at Vic George Field in Altamont.

"I support Mr. Musselman," said Labette County High School athletic director Jesse Ybarra.

Jesse and Peggy Ybarra celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows on Dec. 18 during Mass at Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego.

Mr. Ybarra has taught and coached at Labette County High School for the past 24 years.He teaches advanced placement composition and serves as the athletic director at LCHS.

Mrs. Ybarra was a stay-at-home mom for 14 years before completing her bachelor's degree.For the past nine years she has worked for the city of Altamont as the assistant to the city clerk.
