Dr. Cornelio Fabian Yap
Corning was born in the quiet town of San Marcelino, Zambales where he spent his elementary grades.It was in the same province where he enrolled for high school.After graduation, he went to Manila Central University for his degree in dentistry.
Corning returned to San Mrcelino after graduation.He kept himself busy by serving his fellowmen and by practicing his profession.His ability to lead did not go unnoticed.He was appointed as the professional sector representative to the first Sanggunian Bayan during Martial Law years and, after EDSA revolt of 1986, he was again appointed as O.I.C. Vice Mayor.When regular elections were held in 1986, he got his constituents approval, winning the position of Vice Mayor of his hometown by a landslide.Other noteworthy positions he held were the following: President, Zambales Dental Society, and Zambales Vice Mayor's League.He was also the Executive Vice President of the Central Luzon Vice Mayors League from 1986 to 1987.
Hard work and dedicated service earned him several recognitions: RMTU Outstanding Alumnus, 1981.PDA recognition Awards in 1983, 1988 and 1992.In the year 2000, he was selected from among 21 nominees to be one of the members of the Board of Trustees of the Ramon Magsaysay Technological University for a period of two years.
Although in his words, heis semi retired, Corning refuses to while his time away.He is presently the president of the Layman's Association ofthe Philippine Independent Church of San Marcelino.His love formusic is seen in his ability to play several musical instruments: piano, organ, drums and accordion.Heis presently the band leader/manager of the Pyroclastics Band.
A family man, he is happily married to Evar, a retired teacher.Their union was blessed with four children: a physician, two dentists, and the youngest, a college student.As a tribute to their family, the Yaps were given the Huwarang Pamilya Award in 1999.
