XIAOBING (BRIAN) XIE, Senior Materials Scientist
Dr. Xie's current responsibilities at Eltron Research Inc. have focused on the development of low-cost, highly hydrogen-permeable dense composite membranes for high-pressure hydrogen separation from industrial syngas streams. He was also involved in developing mixed ionic and electronic conductors for high purity separation of oxygen from air in catalytic membrane reactors, and ionic conducting solid electrolytes for use in fuel cells and oxygen pumps. His research interests include ionic diffusion in solid state materials, hydrocarbon reforming catalysis, hydrogen purification and storage, solid oxide fuel cells, functional ceramic processing, and structure-property correlation of novel solid materials including ceramic metal oxides, metal alloys, and inorganic-organic hybrid materials.
Prior to joining Eltron in 2001, Dr. Xie was a postdoc and later an assistant research scientist at Texas A&M University.Dr. Xie received a Ph.D. degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Iowa State University in 1996.He is a member of the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.
