YU-YEE WU was born in Kao-hsiung, Taiwan, but has lived in the United States since she was a year old.After graduating from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1993, she proceeded to work at the Organization of Chinese Americans for two years as a project coordinator working on educational campaigns for civil rights issues concerning the Chinese American and the Asian American community before going to the University of Virginia School of Law in 1995.As a law student, Ms. Wu was a UVA Law School Ritter Scholar and received a National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Law Foundation scholarship in 1996.During law school, she was president of the Asian American Law Students Association and co-chaired the ACLU Civil Rights Clinic at UVA.Ms. Wu also was a member of the UVA Journal of Social Policy and the Law.Ms. Wu clerked for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area in the summer of 1997.After graduating from law school, Ms. Wu served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Magistrate Judge Marilyn Dolan Go in federal district court in the Eastern District of New York.
Ms. Wu's areas of practice are employment, with an emphasis on employment discrimination in the federal sector, personal injury, and plaintiff's class action work.Her experience includes working with federal employees on employment discrimination cases in the EEO hearing process.Ms. Wu was admitted to the California State Bar in 1999.She is active in the Civil Rights Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area.
Prior to joining the law firm of Minami, Lew & Tamaki LLP, Ms. Wu practiced predominantly in the area of consumer fraud class actions at Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein in San Francisco, California.
