   Bismarck - BISMARCK -- MDU Resources Group, Inc., announced that Robert E. Wood, 63, senior vice president - governmental and public affairs retired effective today.

   Wood started with MDU Resources as a public affairs representative in 1974, was promoted to manager of legislative affairs in 1981, vice president of public affairs in 1986, vice president of public affairs and environmental policy in 1991, and to his present position in 2004.Wood also served as president and director of the MDU Resources Foundation and will remain on the Foundation Board in his retirement.Wood was an active member of various industry associations including the American Gas Association, Business Industry Political Action Committee, Edison Electric Institute and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.He has been co-chair of the Midwest Labor and Management Public Affairs Committee and on the boards of the Lignite Energy Council, the Western Business Roundtable of Golden, Colo., and the Public Affairs Council in Washington, D.C.
