Rebecca Wood, principal of Pleasant Hill, said, "We're using it for storage right now, but I don't think it would pass as storage."

Wood said the floors were falling in and there are leaks during heavy rain.Water is currently shut off to the building.Custodial supplies, textbooks and other supplies are stored there.Students do not routinely use the building.

Options for the building include renovating, tearing down or fencing and letting it fall down on its own.

    ...
Wood expressed concern about security if the building is fenced and allowed to continue deteriorating.

"Someone could get in there and get hurt," Wood said.

There is some sentimental value to the school, Wood told the committee, and a group in Pleasant Hill did not want to see the building torn down. But she said they understood cost would be a factor.

Community Techtonics is currently evaluating each school and will make a report to the board in June on recommendations for building upgrades at all facilities.
