Rebecca Wood, director of promotions for Perspectives, is expecting a record attendance for this year's pottery exhibit.
...
"We invite 50 potters to put in two of their best pots and one of their favorite pieces," said Rebecca Wood, an OCAF member and event coordinator."And (in) the old gym, we have the biggest selection of Georgia-made pottery for sale. It's a pottery extravaganza."
Of the 50 invited potters, eight hail from Oconee County and 10 call the Athens area home.Oconee potters include Pickett, Wood, Yukiko Marable, Kathy Adams, Nancy Green, Michael and Peggy Pitts, DeWitt Smith and Jeff Bishoff.
...
"It's hard to find potters below Macon," said Wood, who owns and operates R. Wood Studio Ceramics in Athens.
...
From 1-5 p.m., Perspectives patrons can visit the workspaces of Gillies, Graff, Meyers, Wood and Sutherland.
...
Although no official head count has ever been taken, Wood said they estimate their biggest crowd to be about 4,000.Parking lot surveys have reported seeing license plates from North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Florida. It seems clear Perspectives has a loyal audience.
"It grows a little every year, and much of that is because of word of mouth," she said.
