  Kathy Wood will be Acting Chief Executive Officer.Many of you have read Kathy's columns over the years, and know how committed she is to carers.Here's a short profile of Kathy:Since graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Social Studies degree from the University of Sydney, Kathy has worked as a social worker in both Australia and the UK.This has included working in community health and the community sector, teaching at both the University of Western Australia and the University of Sydney, and working as a conciliation counsellor in the Family Court of Australia.Kathy was employed by Carers NSW as a counsellor in 1995 and was instrumental in ensuring greater recognition for the emotional support and counselling needs of carers through the publication of a report Focus on Carer Counselling Needs and Options (1997).Since then she has been actively involved in setting up pilot projects to explore innovative ways of providing emotional support to carers - in particular the use of teleconference and online mediums.For the past 4 years Kathy has been employed as Manager of the Service Development Unit at Carers NSW.
