Born Sept. 19, 1937, in East Rockaway, N.Y., to Francis and Elizabeth Wood, he moved here from Long Island, N.Y., in 1975.
Mr. Wood worked as a bartender at Sweats and Griffs in Inverness; was a CNA at Avante for four years; and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a charter member and former secretary of the NRA; a volunteer firefighter for more than 20 years, Hewlett, N.Y.; volunteer for Blind Americans of Citrus County; treasurer for Wishing Well School for the Blind, Ocala; member of the Amputee Group; Better Breathers; VFW Post 4337, Inverness; and the East Citrus Community Center.
He was an avid baseball and football fan; loved playing cards, gardening, traveling the USA, and swimming.
He was Methodist.
