David P. Wood has experience in negotiating collective bargaining agreements with national and international unions such as the United Auto Workers, United Steelworkers, International Association of Machinists, AFSCME, the Michigan Nurses Association, the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees, the Fraternal Order of Police, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Allied Industrial Works, Service Employees International Union and United Paperworkers International Union.He advises employers subject to union organizing drives, as well as represents and advises them during union certification and decertification elections.
Mr. Wood's experience before the National Labor Relations Board includes handling a wide variety of unfair labor practice matters, representation elections, and secondary boycott issues.He has substantial expertise in the area of labor arbitration and has been involved in matters involving discharge and discipline, production standards, seniority, subcontracting and other contract interpretation issues.His practice includes representing clients in all forms of employment litigation before state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies such as the Michigan Civil Rights Commission and the Equal Opportunity Commission.
He is a member of the Detroit Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan (Labor Law Section), and the American Bar Association (Labor Law Section Committee on Practice and Procedure and Labor Arbitration).He has participated in seminars and programs in the areas of employment and labor relations and has served as a director for various public and private corporations.He is a member of the Detroit Chapter of Industrial Relations Research Association, serving as its President for the 1990-1991 year.
