TONY WONG, District 4 - Central East
Tony was trained as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital in Hong Kong.
He then immigrated to Canada and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1976 with B.Sc. (Hon.) in Biochemistry.
He entered the School of Graduate Studies at York University and graduated with a M.Sc. in Biological Chemistry in 1978.
Employed as a Clinical Chemist by the York Central Hospital, Tony has held different positions in hospitals, university and private laboratories over the past 34 years: Chief Technologist, All Services Laboratories; Technical Director, Elixir Medical Laboratory; Research Associate, McMaster University; and Laboratory Director, Shelbourne District Hospital to name a few.
He is a past President of the Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (FCCP), and the Chinese Canadian Association of Biomedical Professionals (CCABP).
Tony's involvement with the CMLTO dates back to 1999 when he was appointed as a Non-Council Committee Member.
Elected to Council in 2000 he served on the Complaints, Discipline and Nomination Committee in various capacities, including Chair.
Elected Vice President, Professional in 2004 and 2006, he also served on the Executive Committee.
Tony has been Chair of the Registration Committee from 2006 to 2008.
