Ed Wong is the Fundraising Chair for the Green Party of Canada, and thrilled to be the candidate in the riding of Markham-Unionville.A life-long resident of Toronto, Ed believes that the party's slogan - ?Someday is Now' ? vividly captures the essence of what needs to be achieved during this pivotal election campaign.
"Canadians young and old seem either too fed up or too disinterested to vote, but the Green Party offers a number of exciting ideas that will make Canada an even better place to live."
An organizer for the Green Party of Ontario, Ed, 24, is fluent in English and Cantonese, and possesses a Certificate of Proficiency in French. He earned his B.A. from the University of Toronto in 2002, where he studied film, philosophy, French culture, and political science.A proponent of electoral reform, forest conservation, renewable energy, and municipal autonomy, he is especially concerned about the potential dangers of global issues that require serious consideration, such as genetically-modified ?food', nuclear energy, ?Star Wars', and global warming.
During the provincial elections in 2003, he helped staff the GPO's campaign headquarters by fielding inquiries from the public and the media, and also acted as the Chief Financial Officer for the riding of York West.Over the years, he has volunteered with a number of community organizations, including the Ontario Public Interest Research Group, Youth Assisting Youth, and Greenest City.Currently, Ed is in the final semester of a one-year post-graduate program at the Humber College School of Media Studies, where he is training as a digital video editor and visual effects artist for the film, television and web industries.
