Bob Whitham, owner of Two Rivers Winery in Palisade, came to wine making from a career in long-term care for the elderly.Whitham and his wife, an accountant, are wine lovers, but they approached their new careers with a business owner's eye.
"Because we're making wine and aging wine, you need access to capital so you can grow the business while you anticipate selling the first bottles," Whitham said.

Whitham said he is ready to pull the trigger on a $250,000 expansion of Two Rivers that will include more wine making and storage facilities.Whitham points out that the Colorado wine industry is essentially limited because Palisade and the Grand Junction area are the only parts of the state suitable for grape growing, and act as a supplier to wineries scattered across Colorado. He and others say they are hoping that increased tourism will raise the ceiling on revenues in the industry.
