In an effort to provide a variety of personal perspectives on leadership transition, the program included brief accounts from Libby Chiu of Urban Gateways; Lee Koonce of Sherwood Conservatory of Music; B.J. Jones from Northlight Theatre; Karen Fishman of Music of the Baroque; and Peggy Wise, The Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians.

Mar 6, 2006: Peggy Wise, Founder of the Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians' receives accolades.

The Chicago CIty Council and Mayor Daley offered their "heartiest congratulations to Peggy Wise as she celebrates the 25 th Anniversary of the Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians" via a resolution at the March 1, 2006 City Council Meeting.In the quarter-century since Wise founded the school, Suzuki-Orff has built a tradition of music in the lives of tens of thousands of Chicago-area children and their families.

In recognition of Peggy Wise's amazing contributions, the Suzuki-Orff community of students, families, friends, colleagues, and admirers join the Mayor and City Council in paying tribute "to this visionary educator" and celebrate the School's 25 th Anniversary in her honor.

The Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians , beginning its 20th year this fall , is a place to grow up in , according to its founder and executive director Peggy Wise.Family events strengthen the remarkable sense of community.The school uses the Suzuki method of music instruction , in which a child learns music as he learns his mother tongue , through listening , imitation , repetition , and a healthy dose of encouragement from parent and teacher.In the Suzuki triangle of parent , teacher , and child , each is learning with and from the others.
