    Mr. Wirtz has worked at a variety of jobs, including as a service man for L.C. Jackson Furniture Company, parts man at Ray Hamlin Chevrolet, owned and operated a trucking business, operated Max's Cities Service Station and Blackwell Ice Company.On Nov. 16, 1964, he went to work for Cities Service Gas Company, which was later acquired by The Williams Company of Tulsa.He retired from the Williams Company on Sept. 1, 1996, after 32 years of service as a pipeline repairman, construction inspector, and corrosion technologist.

    Mrs. Wirtz worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for two years.She was active in ParentTeachers Organization, a Blue Bird and Camp Fire leader.She enjoys gardening, decorating for various holidays, and grandchildren, in addition to serving as partner and office manger in their businesses.

    The couple started Lock-N-Clock in 1988.They sold the locksmith part of their business in 2003, and now operate a clock sales and service business, known as The Clock Shop.

    They are members of St. John's Lutheran Church, where both are Sunday school teachers and he is an elder.Mr. Wirtz is commissioner from Ward 2 for the city of Blackwell.The couple has lived in Blackwell during their marriage, with the exception of one year in Stillwater, where he was truck agent for Santa Fe Trail Transportation Company and Mrs. Wirtz was station clerk.

    Mr. Wirtz was a reserve deputy for the Kay County Sheriff's Department for 14 years and a member of Battery C, 189th Field Artillery Battalion, 45th Infantry Division for five years.They are members of the Blackwell Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Pride Committee.He enjoys carpentry work, having building their home and several other homes.
