    Services for Wallace Richard Wirths, 81, of Wantage, who died yesterday, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Wirths residence, 50 Compton Rd. Wantage.Arrangements are by the Pinkel Funeral Home, Sussex.

    Mr. Wirths was an executive with Westinghouse Electric, Bloomfield, before retiring in 1978.

    He was a graduate of Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., and received an honorary doctor of law degree from Upsala College, East Orange.

    Mr. Wirths served in the Navy during peacetime.

    A Sussex County committeeman, he also served on a county commission which helped to develop the Sussex county campus of Upsala College.The land for the school was donated by Mr. Wirths in 1978, but purchased back by the Wirths family in 1998 after the college and closed.

    Mr. Wirths was a trustee of the Alexander Lynn Hospital, now Saint Clares Hospital, in Sussex.He was also a big brother with the Big Brothers of Sussex County.

    He recorded a series of radio commentaries called, Wally Wirths Candidly Speaking, which were heard on WSUS.

    Born in Englewood, he moved to Wantage in 1957.
